SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY
At Capezzana Commodities, we have direct and engaging relationships within the countries we operate in. Our work gives us close-up perspective of the tangible and longstanding issues facing the people in the local communities and our ethos compels us to take action in order to become a positive stakeholder in these areas.
Bandia Farm – Senegal
Food security is one of the key drivers for the broader development, but in Senegal, cultivation and use of vegetables is not widespread, particularly within small communities.
Capezzana, has created Bandia Farm, a local agriculture project, to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of the people in Bandia, through the development of horticulture infrastructures.
More specifically, Capezzana has transformed 15 hectares into agricultural land, providing a source of employment and fresh food supply – fruits and vegetables – for the people of the area. With respect to cultural traditions and the sustainable growth, we support the local farmers in our project and facilitate traditional methods in plowing, planting and harvesting.
In addition, as part of the Bandia Farm project, Capezzana has drilled a deep well which provides clean water for the irrigation of the crops and is available for the local communities.
